Seeking counseling and psychotherapy takes courage and a deep desire to make lasting changes to some parts of your life. Looking for help and selecting a therapist can be difficult and overwhelming, especially in the midst of a personal or family crisis. It’s important to find a therapist who is not only a good fit for you, but one that has the training, skills and experience to help you with your specific problems. Psychotherapy can change how we relate to ourselves and others, how we handle distressing situations, and how we work toward meaningful accomplishments that are in line with our deepest values.
Inner Wisdom Counseling, at its core, is based on my belief that we all possess an inner wisdom; a knowing of what is right for us, for our relationships, and our place in the world. Most of us experience times when we feel out of touch with our inner wisdom. When life disrupts our sense of well-being, we use our resources and problem-solving skills to return to more solid ground.
Counseling helps during those times when what we know to do doesn’t make things better. When we feel lost in how to respond to our circumstances, or feel a sense of despair trying to cope, counseling can help us change unhelpful patterns and regain a sense of health. My Portland practice is focused on helping on helping you identify and heal what’s getting in the way of your connection to your inner wisdom.
Inner Wisdom Counseling is a safe, collaborative and affirming psychotherapy practice that honors and respects people of diverse racial, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, as well as non-traditional gender, sex and relationship orientations.
Everything that makes more of you than you have ever been,
even in your best hours, is right.
